2004 Golf Tournament a wonderful success

   The Fifth Annual Double Angel Foundation Golf Tournament June 4 at the Golf Club at Inverness proved to be a great success as over 120 golfers packed the course in a show of support.

Double Angel Foundation raised about $36,000 and the funds will be used to help build the four-field youth memorial baseball complex in Parker as a tribute to children everywhere.

   “We had a lot of great people offering their support this year, and that's just awesome,” said Ken Major, executive director for the foundation. “We want to thank everyone who participated and the great people at Inverness for helping us put together a first-class event. Everyone really enjoyed themselves for such a great cause.”

    Dinner and a live auction hosted by former Denver Broncos offensive lineman Mark Schlereth followed the tournament, featuring items such as a $3,000 Double Angel Baseball Bronze, and a one-week trip to Orlando, Fla with airfare for 2.

    Signed sports paraphernalia included a John Elway Hall-of-Fame helmet, Rod Smith jersey, Jake Plummer jersey and Rockies jerseys from Todd Helton and Larry Walker. A beautiful wine rack, which came with wine, was valued at $600.

There were also top quality door prizes, highlighted by a trip for two to Las Vegas.

    Ken Dixey, president of the foundation, thanked everyone who was involved in the tournament. He also stated how pleased he was with some of the progress that has been made nationwide regarding carbon monoxide awareness and safety on boats.
