For the second consecutive year, the 9, 11 and 12-year-old Parker Sky Sox baseball teams decided to donate $1.00 for every run the 3 squads scored during league play to the Double Angel Foundation.

The Double Angel Foundation was formed following the tragic deaths of Dillon and Logan Dixey, two young brothers from Parker who drowned from exposure to carbon monoxide while swimming at the rear of a houseboat on Lake Powell .

Both boys loved baseball, so to memorialize that enthusiasm for the benefit of other children, the foundation is working to build a unique four field baseball complex that will feature artificial turf, an instructional facility and a children's memorial garden. Two of the four fields will be playable this fall.

With over 50 games between the three teams, the club goal was to score 500 runs and raise $500. The boys brought out the big bats and did just that. They reached their goal and presented a check for $500 to the foundation at Double Angel Ballpark.

Ken and Bambi Dixey spoke to the kids while standing at home plate on the varsity field.

“Always remember that you guys helped us build these fields,” Bambi said. “This is a special place and we can't wait to see you and all the other kids playing here.”

Sky Sox coaches said the program is expected to add two more teams next year, which should mean more hits, more runs, and more support for the foundation.

In other news, on August 24, Chipotle Mexican Grill in Parker held a fundraiser for the foundation by donating 50 percent of sales between 5-9 p.m.

Double Angel received $1,350 from Chipotle, and the funds will be used to continue work on Double Angel Ballpark.

“We really had a great time and appreciate everything Chipotle did for us,” said Double Angel President Ken Dixey. “The food was great and the staff was excellent. We'd love to do another event with Chipotle in the future. It's this type of generosity that will help us finish this project.”

In an effort to give back to the community, the Parker Sky Sox decided to donate $1.00 for every run all 3 teams scored during AYL ‘0'-League play to The Double Angel Foundation. With a total of 54 games between the 3 teams, the club goal was to score 500 runs and raise $500. They reached their goal and presented a check for $500 to the Double Angel Foundation.       Johnny Carino's Country Italian restaurant opened in Parker, CO on Monday, September 15, 2003 and celebrated their grand opening with a benefit for the Double Angel Foundation.

After the pre-opening benefit dinner, Jude Romero, General Manager, presented the Double Angel Foundation with a check for $3,000. This is the eighth company owned restaurant in the Denver area. Johnny Carino's is committed to being an integral part of its home communities.

“We are pleased to open our Parker restaurant and we are fortunate to have Double Angel Foundation as our charity partner,” explained Jude Romero. The restaurant celebrated its ground opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. that morning. After the ribbon cutting, guests were invited to a “grape stomping” ceremony.
