Gone are the friends
We held so dear
Gone to heaven
With streams so clear
They traveled far roads
And steep mountain trails
Leaving brave footsteps
In green grassy vales
Their names oft spoken
With happy recall
Their voices still echo
Through these halls
And while they are gone
Our spirits can soar with them
They live in our hearts

It came too quickly, lads
Before you could run on the field
One more time
And hear the umpire cry, "Play ball!"

Winter came too quickly, boys
Before we knew
To press those last memories of you
Tightly into a final kiss

We were watching Summer
Pick - oh so slowly
A bouquet of promises from a casual hill
When Winter clapped his cold hand together
And covered a sea of flowers with snow.

We'll keep Spring in mind, of course
But we can never forget the still eternity
When we turned our faces from a blizzard of pain
And caught your loving laughter
In our hearts.
